January 9, 2002 - Smart City Telecom hires Allen Sims as new Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Sims will report to Marty Rubin who remains the President & CEO of Smart City Telecom.
Mr. Sims started his telecommunications career at Indiana Bell in 1970. During his seventeen years at Indiana Bell and later Ameritech, he held a number of positions in sales, marketing, carrier accounts and human resources. Mr. Sims then spent five years in the long distance and operator services business. First as the Chief Operating Officer of One Call Communications and then as a Vice President at LCI International (now Qwest.) In 1992 Mr. Sims joined ITI/Duke, the largest shared tenant provider in the Midwest, as its President. After three years Mr. Sims was recruited by Teleport Communications Group to start its Indianapolis region from the ground floor. In this role, Mr. Sims's region was recognized as the top performing TCG city in terms of network efficiency, revenue attainment and cashflow goals. In 1998 TCG was acquired by AT&T and Mr.Sims was given the responsibility to start-up AT&T local services in a six state region. Most recently Mr. Sims was a senior executive of Superior Modular Products, a manufacturer of connectors for the telecom industry.
With seventeen years at a Regional Bell Operating Company and fourteen years in the long distance, shared tenant and CLEC businesses, Allen Sims brings a strong combination of talents to Smart City Telecom. |
